It is very obvious that all the corporate leaders, business owners, and executives to have varying definitions and perspectives on the approach and significant set of qualities required for effective leadership. And it is also true that not all situations require the same type of leadership style.

Great leaders adapt to their surrounding environments, arising needs and accordingly empower the team to succeed together. Many experts across countless leadership books and articles agree on certain principles required for leading a team to greatness, but when it comes to the bottom line, the most important factor is, getting the desired results delivered.

While one can manage to get results in a variety of manners, at the core strengths of all great leaders are two interconnected qualities: courage and character. Those who lead with character do the right thing 100 percent of the time, even if no one is watching and they have the courage to hold their character and do not let any force let it go. So it requires on to be courageous enough to hold character.

Outstanding leaders understand that their actions set the standard for their entire team and that their charisma impacts far beyond their imagination. Generally speaking, the more successful you become, the chances are, the less accessible you will be. Competing demands, busy schedules, and other factors make it hard for you to remain available and present to be accessed by others.

If this is the truth then what makes people still be inspired and work for you? The answer is, when you can’t be present and accessible, it is your ‘presence’. Your presence makes them feel closer and touched by you.

A simple way to understand ‘presence’ is, when you as mother or father, even if not present and available to your growing children, children can sense your presence and stop themselves and siblings, “hey, let’s not do something wrong as parents are ‘watching’ us.” They sense your presence and prevent themselves from doing anything you might object them doing.” Where does this presence come from? It comes from your energy of being ‘courageous’ and person of ‘character’, and it touches them even if you are not physically present around them.

Outstanding leaders make a concentrated effort to be accessible and available to those who need them but more than this they touch others with the energy of their ‘presence’. They know to be careful in every word they write, say, email, text, and tweet because they know it is their energy reaching to people. The art of communication is the language of leadership and essential to success, and it works for those who work at it. Your words are packets of energy building or destroying your presence.
